This course is designed for employees seeking to enhance their fire safety awareness and take on specific roles related to managing fire risk in the workplace, such as fire wardens, marshals, or stewards. Successful candidates will earn a national Level 2 qualification in fire safety.

Course Content

The course covers essential topics including:

  • Hazards and Risks: Understanding the potential fire hazards and risks in the workplace.
  • Fire Risk Control: Techniques and strategies for controlling fire risk.
  • Role of the Fire Warden: Responsibilities and duties of a fire warden or similar role.
  • Fire Safety Management: Principles and best practices in managing fire safety at work.
  • Use of Fire Extinguishers (Optional): Safe handling and use of fire extinguishers (if included).

Course Details & Certification

  • Duration: Minimum of 6 contact hours in the classroom.
  • Entry Requirements:
    • Participants must be at least 14 years old.
    • A certificate can be awarded to all students, subject to assessment.
    • Responsibility roles in the workplace can be assumed only from age 16 onwards, with employers responsible for ensuring suitability for these roles.
    • It is recommended that participants have at least Level 1 literacy or equivalent.
  • Certification

    • Assessment: Your Trainer/Assessor will determine your pass or fail status based on a written assessment at the end of the course.
    • Certification Validity: The qualification does not expire; however, refresher training and continuous professional development (CPD) are recommended to stay updated with policies, procedures, and legislation.

  • Class Size

    • Maximum Number of Students: 16
    • Minimum Age: 14 years
